UNITED STATES CLOCK COMPANY

~Circa 1850-1880
~This clock was made in New York , probably a special order because it is not found in their catalogue. The hands on the clock are monogrammed; it has a dead beat escapement with jeweled palettes and jeweled escape wheel. The pendulum is a mercury compensating pendulum. This is a very large clock, 92 inches high and 36 inches wide at the widest part. The dial is brass engraved and was silvered at one time but it is worn. For any questions or more information please contact me.

ENGLISH ASTRONOMICAL STANDING REGULATOR

~W Wainman of Hassle
~Circa 1850-1880
~This is a very unusual clock, not only because it is an astro regulator but it has a gravity movement. These are mostly found in tower clocks like Big Ben. It has a very nice case all mahogany. The dial is brass engraved with the makers name and town or origin. Any further information please contact me.

NEW YORK CLOCK

~ Circa -1830 – 1870
~There are only three known to be in existence from this manufacturer. Probably the most prominent one is still in service at the New York Stock Exchange Board Room. If you Google New York Stock Exchange Board Room you will find that clock pictured in some of the photos. The other known clock is a very Gothic Victorian steeple top astronomical clock. The one you see here is solid mahogany with crotch mahogany veneer. It has a mercury compensating pendulum with a brass engraved silvered dial. This is also an astronomical regulator. The astronomical regulators were used as fine precision timepieces in locations that required the utmost accuracy like observatories.

William F. Ladd had a shop on Wall Street, he is noted on the New York Registry as a watchmaker in 1839.

 E. Howard #58

~ Circa -1880
~ Dial – Painted
~ Case – Cherry
~ Movement – 8 day weight driven
~ The model 58 was made in three sizes, the more common are the larger … very unusual to find this which is the smallest. The cherry case is in unbelievable original condition, also original glass and key to door and winding key. Just do not come much better than this one. This particular model was made in three sizes. The smallest was 42″ with an 8″ dial; the middle size was 51″ with a 10″ dial; this is the smallest model. It’s appeared in the 1900 catalogue.

Prentiss Gallery Clock

~ Circa – 1890
~ DIAL 17 inch marble
~ CASE wood
~ MOVEMENT 30 day double spring single arbor wind movement
~ DIMENSIONS case is 24 inches high and 54 inches long
~ COMMENTS These movements were never sold, they were rented for use with calendar and other precise timepieces… their reputation was for accuracy and they competed successfully with the eclectically connected and synchronized clocks of other companies…. these clocks were found in libraries, train stations, ferry terminals and court houses … not for sale but always looking for others of this style or interest. This one came from Grand Central Station when they converted to electric clocks.
